PenEquity Inc. is a Toronto-headquartered real estate firm operating at the intersection of development and long-term ownership.
Our leadership owns and develops retail real estate across Ontario, and applies the same ownership standard to every third-party mandate we take on. We do not run assets to a service agreement. We run them the way we run our own.
This orientation runs through everything — how we underwrite a site, how we design a building, how we choose our tenants, and how we operate the asset decades after the ribbon is cut.

Founded in 1984 with completed projects dating back to 1987, PenEquity has developed over 4.5 million square feet of retail and entertainment real estate across Ontario — delivered in partnership with Canada’s most recognized anchor tenants.
Our development work spans site acquisition, land use planning, construction management, and lease-up — all executed in-house, and all held to an operator’s standard rather than a builder’s. We develop because we intend to operate. That intent changes how every decision gets made.
We partner with landowners, institutional capital, and retail groups on new developments and redevelopments across the province.

PenEquity has managed its own properties since its earliest developments. We have continuously managed Kanata Entertainment Centrum since its 1996 opening — nearly three decades, through multiple retail cycles, the 2008 financial crisis, and the pandemic.
Today, our operating portfolio spans over two million square feet across Ontario, including third-party mandates for institutional owners, REITs, pension-fund investors, and private family offices.
